Why Lambda Chi?

Why Lambda Chi?

Why Lambda Chi?  The answer simple: True Brotherhood.

True Brother is the new Brotherhood Development Initiative for Lambda Chi Alpha. It is a conceptual framework that organizes the formal education and experiential learning of Associate and Initiated members throughout their undergraduate years. True Brother is designed to provide the structure, content, and process for a member's journey from Associate Member to Brother for Life. It is the vehicle by which members adopt the personal identity of the True Brother, and it is the holistic means by which Lambda Chi Alpha accomplishes its organizational mission and realizes its strategic vision. True Brother represents a fundamental shift in the way we view our undergraduate chapters, away from a focus on organizational structure, as represented by the Standards for Chapter Excellence program, and toward a strategically-aligned system that focuses on individual member development.

You might be wondering what else sets Lambda Chi Alpha apart from other fraternities.  The answer is quite a bit.  The depth, power, and mysticism of Lambda Chi's ceremonies and lessons are truly enthralling -- take a look at our Coat of Arms.  When compared to those of other fraternal organizations it is evident that Lambda Chi offers something superior.  Each and every one of these symbols carries with it a powerful meaning that you will have the privilege of discovering should you become a brother.  Although Lambda Chi is based on Christian ideals, it is open to all walks of life and we believe these ideals transcend religious difference, and are not particular to the Christian faith.

There are plenty of reasons for you to consider joining a fraternity. But most of all, you must feel like you belong.

By joining a fraternity, you are choosing to associate yourself with a group of men who share common values and ambitions. Are these men campus leaders? Do they make good grades? Do they treat people with respect? Are they socially popular? Will associating yourself with these men help or hurt your chances of graduating, finding a job, or becoming a good parent some day?

Tough questions aren't they? We're not trying to make this difficult. We simply know from experience how much a positive fraternal experience can impact someone's life. Many of our alumni have helped each other find jobs, been roommates long after college, or stood as groomsmen at each other's weddings.

You don't join Lambda Chi Alpha for four years. You join us for life.

There are many factors that can go in to making the right fraternal decision, and the only way to decide is to check out the rush events and base your decision on your interactions with the other members. Remember, a fraternity is a major commitment and while we are confident that Lambda Chi Alpha is the right decision for many men out there, the only way to really figure it out is by coming to meet us at the rush events this year.
Why Go Greek?

A fraternity provides leadership training and experience for each of its members. Every chapter has their own governing structure, typically consisting of a president and various other positions. Once a member in the organization, you are able and encouraged to run for such positions. Besides chapter leadership, the governing councils also elect their leaders from the greek community. As well as greek leadership positions, greeks are leaders on campus as well. Greeks have led student organizations, started new clubs, and have even served in the student government association. Here are some statistics.

86% of all Fortune 500 CEO's

85% of all presidential cabinet members since 1900

85% of all Supreme Court Justices since 1910

78% of all Lawyers

75% of the US Congress

70% of the US Senate

70% of all the people listed in "Who's who in America"

65% of all Doctors

85% of student leaders on more than 30 Campuses

70% of people who go Greek Graduate

Only 50% that stay independent Graduate

Fraternities make-up over 400,000 men nationwide

Over 7,000 Greek chapters on over 800 campuses

Only 2 US Presidents and 2 Vice-presidents have been NON-Greek

Greek associations contribute over $700,000,000 to charity EACH YEAR, and put in over 850,000 hours of community service

Yet think, Greek Letter Organizations make up less than 1% of the population.
